What is My Picture Post?
My Picture Post is a community where people can set up on-line photo albums for others to post and view photos. An ideal example is a wedding reception.  Everyone takes pictures at a reception, but rarely gets to see all of the shots that Uncle Frank took. With My Picture Post all you need is the album name and password and the photos come to you.
How does it work?
An individual (the album owner) signs up with My Picture Post. The album owner then sends information out to people to register and upload photos. Once a person is registered, they upload photos for everyone to view. For the professional photographer, each photo is watermarked with the text of their choice. For additional copyright protection, an end user cannot download the photos from the site, protecting the bottom line.
What's the difference between a standard album and a professional album?
A standard album is for those amateur photographers who would like to share their photos with other people from the event. A professional album is for professional photographers that would like to cut their costs of developing proofs and the increasing costs of shipping those proofs. Professional photos are protected by both a customized watermark as well as a disabled download function. Both methods protect the bottom line.
How can others view the photos?
During the sign up process, the album owner gives the photo album a name (i.e. Greg and Beth's Wedding). A password is also associated with the album. Anyone that has the album name and password can view the photos that have been uploaded. The album owner can send out automated invitations for their album. There is no registration or cost associated with viewing an album.
I keep getting 'file too big' when I'm uploading photos. What's going on?
Each photo cannot be any larger than 75K. This may seem small given the current digital camera technology, however, photos that are very large a.)Cannot be shown on a single screen without forcing visitors to scroll to see the entire photo and b.)Visitors with a dial-up connection may not wait long enough to see the photo. The chart below gives some statistics on photo download time.

Modem Speed File Size(in Kilobytes)
50K 75K 100K 250K 500K
28.8 Kbps 15 sec 22 sec 31 sec 1 min 18 sec 2 min 36 sec
56 Kbps 6 sec 9 sec 13 sec 34 sec 1 min 9 sec
You can use any image editing program to reduce the size of your photos. If you aren't sure how to reduce the size of your photos, you can download My Picture Resize to assist you with this.
Will I be able to customize my album?
Absolutely! A photo album should reflect the moment in which the photos were taken. There are many templates to choose from.
How much disk space does each user get?
Each user gets five megabytes of photo storage room. That's about 100 pictures worth of disk space. Plenty of room to share the best shots of the event!
How much does all of this cost?
Depending on the number of registered people who'd like to upload, a nominal fee is charged. For more information on upload plans, please visit our Upload Plans page.
